What you get for $49
For $49 once you get a permanent license to Asset Lab, the AI image, video and audio desktop studio, on every Mac and Linux machine you own, with free model and feature updates for life. Renders aren't in that price: they bill to your own Fal.ai key at Fal's raw rates. This page lists exactly what's in and what's out; the pricing page has the rest.

Included in the $49
The license
- One-time purchase. Not a subscription; nothing renews on its own.
- Every machine you own. One license covers all your Macs and Linux machines.
- Your choice of edition at the same price: Asset Lab (the standalone studio) or AssetLab Resolve (the same studio docked beside DaVinci Resolve Free or Studio). Both ship for Mac and Linux.
- Add the other edition later for $19, in either direction, activated with your original license key.
- Instant key. Gumroad emails it the moment you buy; it unlocks the demo you may already have installed.
The software, in both editions
- The full catalog: 27 image models and 40 video models, plus 23 image editors and 12 video editors. Every price is on the rate card.
- Storyboards and Director: plan up to sixteen shots, draw a still per shot, generate takes, narrate, score, mix, add transitions and export one cut.
- The Audio module: 272 voices with free previews, voice cloning, music, sound effects, score-to-picture and lip sync. No extra license fee.
- The studio tools: Prompt Lab, characters and locations, brand kits, Shot Set, compare mode, plain-English image and video editing, delivery packs, Back up / Restore.
- Documentation: a Setup Guide and a User Manual (PDF) in the download, plus the free training course on YouTube.
What the Resolve edition adds
- A timeline bridge: Auto-drop puts renders into an "Asset Lab" bin and onto the timeline; Grab frame pulls the frame under the playhead into image-to-video or the editor.
- Editor tools: AI transitions between two clips, LUT Creator (a reference still becomes a color-grade LUT installed in Resolve), backdrop and 3D tools.
- Storyboards beside the edit: with Auto-drop on, stills and takes stay in the Gallery and only the exported cut lands on the timeline.
Updates
- Free for life. Every new model, feature and version, on the same license key.
- No renewal, no expiry. There's no update window to run out and no upgrade pricing.
Your files
- Stills and clips auto-save to
~/Pictures/Asset Lab; audio to~/Music/Asset Lab. The Resolve edition keeps each job's renders together in its own project folder. - Your local copies outlive the temporary links Fal's CDN returns.

Put simply: the $49 buys the studio and the workflow; Fal.ai is the meter on each generation. Asset Lab adds no markup to it; the comparison with using fal.ai directly shows the prices are identical.

After you buy: three steps
- Install from the Gumroad download: the Mac
.dmg, or the Linux.debor AppImage. - Connect a Fal.ai key. Create it with Fal's recommended API preset, which runs every model. Fal's Full access preset additionally lets the app show your live credit balance, at the cost of granting it every account permission.
- Generate. The price is on the button; results land in the gallery and in your local folders.
About the $49
Is Asset Lab $29?
No. $29 was the July 2026 launch price and some older listings still show it. The license is $49 once today, on this site and on Gumroad.
Do I pay Asset Lab every month for renders?
No. There's no Asset Lab subscription and no markup on Fal usage. You pay Fal.ai directly, per render, from your own account.
Do updates ever cost extra?
No. Updates and upgrades are free for life. There's no renewal and nothing to re-buy. The only optional extra is the $19 cross-grade if you want the other edition too.
Does one license cover Mac and Linux?
Yes, every Mac and Linux machine you own, for whichever edition you bought. Both Asset Lab and AssetLab Resolve ship for Mac and Linux.
Is Windows included?
The same license covers the Windows build of the standalone app, which is available by request. It isn't the default download until the installer is code-signed. There's no Windows build of AssetLab Resolve.
