Asset Lab for DaVinci Resolve
Frontier AI models, docked inside DaVinci Resolve.
Generate a shot in a panel beside your edit and it lands on your timeline, already imported, in its own bin. No browser tab, no download, no re-import, no hunting through the media pool. $49 once, and every render bills straight to your own Fal.ai key at raw cost. New in 1.3: Director. Build a multi-shot cut in the panel and drop the finished film onto your timeline.
Looking for a DaVinci Resolve AI plugin that uses your own Fal.ai key? That's this. Here's how it compares with using fal.ai directly. And here's what Resolve 21's own AI tools do.
Shots land on your timeline. Automatically.
The connection pill in the header shows exactly which timeline you're feeding. Hit Generate, and with Auto-drop on, the finished render imports into an "Asset Lab" bin and appends to your timeline the moment it's done.
- Auto-drop: every finished render lands on the current timeline, hands-free
- AI transitions: grab the last frame of clip A and the first frame of clip B, describe the move, and the generated transition drops into your cut
- Grab frame: pull the frame under your playhead as a start frame, an end frame, or into the editor
- Audio on/off: native audio from Seedance, Kling & Veo, or silent clips for your own sound design
- → Timeline from any gallery item sends past renders to the cut, any time

Match any look. Keep it as a real LUT.
You've saved a thousand frames whose grade you'd kill for. The LUT Creator turns any of them into a color grade you own: grab a frame from your timeline, attach the reference, and get a real 33-point .cube LUT fitted to the difference. Not a filter inside an app, but a file Resolve's Color page treats like any $50 LUT pack.
- Any reference works: a film still, a photo you love, another colorist's frame
- Honest preview: see exactly what the .cube does to your footage before you save it, next to the AI's target grade
- Install into Resolve: one click and it's in your Color-page LUT browser, ready to drag onto clips
- ≈ 12¢ per LUT, once. After that it grades hours of footage for free, on any machine

Storyboard the scene, docked beside the edit New in 1.5
Director's storyboard stage lives in the Resolve edition too. Pick your saved characters and a location, let it plan the shots, and draw a still for every one. Same faces, same wardrobe, same set, frame after frame. Approve the board, then hand those frames to video on whichever model you choose.
- ≈ 2¢ a plan, ≈ 12¢ a still: see the whole scene for under a dollar before you buy a second of footage
- Contact sheet or production board, saved as a PNG or a PDF to send to a client or a crew
- Auto-drop stays clean: still frames and takes wait in the Gallery; only the exported cut lands on the timeline

Director: cut a whole piece beside your edit
The 🎬 Director tab plans up to sixteen shots on one model, keeps every take, narrates the cut in one voice over a music bed, mixes the two, adds transitions and fades, then exports one finished film. With Auto-drop on, only the exported cut lands on your timeline; the takes and narration reads wait in the Gallery, where → Timeline sends any of them on demand.
- One model per sequence so the grade and texture hold across every shot
- References, an anchor frame, or chain from the last shot for continuity
- Free exports when the cut has transitions or fades, rendered locally with the bundled ffmpeg

Direct every shot like you hired a DP
The Video tab's Director panel turns cinematography into controls: pick a genre, palette, lighting, camera move and lens, and precise direction is appended to your prompt. It's shown verbatim, so you always know exactly what the model was told.
- 39 choices across five disciplines, from film noir to FPV drone to 35mm anamorphic
- Saved looks: name a combination once, re-apply it in one click, and every shot in the piece carries the same cinematography
- Free. It's expert prompt craft, not another model call

A Studio tab built for the edit bay
Five tools you won't find in the standalone app. Each one starts from your timeline and ends back on it.
- LUT Creator: any reference image into an installed, Resolve-ready .cube grade
- Backdrop Generator: grab a green-screen frame, describe the world you wish you'd shot in, get a lighting-matched composite
- Clay → Photoreal: turn untextured 3D renders into finished frames, geometry and camera preserved
- 3D Model: any image into a textured GLB mesh for Fusion (Trellis 2, Hunyuan 3D 3.1 Pro)
- Timeline Clip: restyle or animate the clip under your playhead

The whole studio
Everything in the standalone app (67 models, Director, edit with words, Shot Set, Prompt Lab, brand kits) plus the timeline bridge.
New Shot & Shot Set
A different camera angle of any clip, or six-angle coverage of a scene. Auto-drop places each result on the cut.
360° character sheets
Full-length and head-shot views from six angles, so a cast member holds across every shot in the piece.
Price on every button
Every Generate button quotes fal's current rate for your settings before you click. See the rate card.
And now it writes the sound.
A cut needs more than pictures. The Audio tab generates voiceover, music and sound effects in the same panel you generate shots in, and with Auto-drop on, a finished music bed lands on your timeline the same way a clip does. Resolve routes it to an audio track on its own.

Hand it the cut. Get music written to your edit.
The Score lane starts from footage instead of a description. Point it at a clip and it reads the pacing and the cuts, then writes music that lands with them and drops the result straight onto the timeline it came from.
- Any clip you have: something you generated, or footage you shot and dragged in
- Up to three takes: three different scores for the same clip, priced per take so the total is never a surprise
- ≈ 27¢ for a 30-second cue, quoted on the button before you commit
- Licensed and commercial-safe by the vendor's own claim. The scorer is Sonilo v1.1

272 voices, free to audition. Or clone your own.
Temp VO that doesn't sound like temp VO. Every voice ships with a real recording of the same line, loudness-matched so none of them wins on volume. Play as many as you like before you spend anything.
- Six engines in one list: MiniMax Speech 2.8 HD, ElevenLabs Multilingual v2, Inworld TTS 1.5, Gemini 3.1 Flash, Seed Speech 2 and xAI
- Clone your own voice for $1.50 with a minute of phone audio, a script to read, and it's yours in every future project
- Kept alive: cloned voices are deleted at the vendor after seven days unused; the app renews yours automatically and warns you before one lapses
- Under a cent for a 150-word script on the cheapest engine, about 9¢ on the most expensive

Put the voice on a face
Send any take to the Video tab, attach a face, and a character delivers it lip-synced with Flashtalk from 2¢/s, sync-3 Avatar, OmniHuman 1.5.
Re-voice the clip you cut
Attach a clip instead of a face and it re-voices footage you already made, using HeyGen from 5¢/s, or sync-3 when the lengths differ. Lands on the timeline like anything else.
Music and effects
Six music models with a chip composer, beds from 2¢ a minute; sound effects about 1¢ per five seconds, with seamless looping for ambience.
Everything in the project folder
Audio saves alongside your stills and clips in the project's render location, so the job stays portable and relinks cleanly.
The full Audio module, lane by lane, is on the Audio page.
Resolve Free and Resolve Studio. $49 once.
No Studio licence required.
Works with both editions of DaVinci Resolve. On free Resolve a one-click bridge script (runs inside Resolve from Workspace → Scripts) connects the app to your timeline. Same $49, same license terms as the standalone app.
New to the studio? The free video course films every click, and an AssetLab Resolve series follows. It runs as a native app on Apple Silicon Macs (notarized by Apple) and on 64-bit x86 Linux (.deb or AppImage), and one license covers both. There's no account and no Asset Lab server: your Fal.ai key stays in local storage on your machine and talks only to Fal.
The app is $49 once. Renders cost cents.
That's the whole software cost, and your version keeps working forever. Renders are separate and bill straight to your own Fal.ai key at the model's raw price, with no markup: most images run 3–7¢, short video clips roughly $0.30–$5 depending on model, length and resolution. The exact estimate sits on the Generate button before you click, and the sidebar tracks your month's total.
See the full per-model rate card, the pricing page, or read how the no-subscription model works across the category.
Already own the standalone Asset Lab? Add the Resolve edition for $19. The cross-grade works in both directions and activates with the license key from your original purchase.

Does it work with the free version of DaVinci Resolve?
Yes. Both editions are supported and no Studio licence is required. On free Resolve a one-click bridge script connects the app to your timeline.
Does AssetLab Resolve run on Linux?
Yes. It ships for Apple Silicon Macs and for 64-bit x86 Linux as a .deb or AppImage, and connects to DaVinci Resolve on Linux through the same bridge script. One $49 license covers both. There's no Windows build of the Resolve edition.
Is this a plugin, or a separate app?
It's a native desktop app for Mac and Linux that docks beside your edit and talks to Resolve's timeline. Your Resolve install isn't modified beyond the bridge script on the free edition.
What's the difference between this and the standalone Asset Lab?
Everything in the standalone, Director included, plus the timeline bridge: Auto-drop, Grab frame, AI transitions, the LUT Creator and the Studio tab. If you don't cut in Resolve, the standalone app is the one you want.
Where do my renders go?
Every render auto-saves as a real file to ~/Movies/Asset Lab on Mac or ~/Videos/Asset Lab on Linux (or to whatever render location you've set for that Resolve project), organised into projects. Audio saves alongside it in the same folder, so a job stays self-contained and relinks cleanly when the drive moves. With Auto-drop on it also imports to an Asset Lab bin and appends to your current timeline.
Do I need a subscription or an account?
Neither. You buy the app once and bring your own free Fal.ai key, which is where render costs are billed. There's no Asset Lab account and no server in the middle.
Is there a demo of the Resolve edition?
Not yet, deliberately. The timeline integration needs Resolve installed to mean anything. The standalone demo shows the generation studio, which is the same in both.
Is there a Windows version?
Not of AssetLab Resolve. The standalone Asset Lab does have a Windows build, available by request: it has the same features and runs on the same license, but it isn't on Gumroad yet because of security clearance: the installer isn't code-signed with a Microsoft-trusted certificate yet, so Windows SmartScreen shows a “Windows protected your PC” warning before it runs (More info → Run anyway). We send it directly, with a setup guide for that screen, until the certificate is in place. Ask for it here.
