Seedance 2.5 on Mac, right inside DaVinci Resolve

There's no Seedance 2.5 download: it's a closed, cloud-hosted ByteDance model with no public weights, so it can't run on your own GPU or offline. Seedance 2.5 itself takes text or a start frame and returns up to 30 seconds of video with native audio, at 480p, 720p or 1080p. What is Seedance 2.5?

Seedance 2.5 is the newest model in ByteDance's Seedance video family, served through fal.ai. It generates a clip from a text prompt, or animates a start image (optionally toward an end frame you choose), and it can generate the audio with the picture. Takes run from 4 to 30 seconds, in six aspect ratios from 9:16 to 21:9.

A second version, Seedance 2.5 References, blends reference images, video clips and audio into a single new shot. You bind them in the prompt as @Image1, @Video1, @Audio1: up to 30 images, 10 clips and 10 audio files.

Two real clips, made for this page on September 23, 2026. Each is Seedance 2.5 at 720p, 5 seconds, audio on, first take, no edits. About $2.37 each. Unmute to hear the model's own sound.

Image to video: the start frame below (a Nano Banana 2 still) plus a motion prompt: wind, surf, a slow push-in, the lighthouse beam.
Text to video: one prompt (a latte pour at golden hour, then the cup slid across the counter) with the café sound generated alongside.

How much does Seedance 2.5 cost?

Seedance 2.5 bills per second of video, by resolution. These are the rates Asset Lab quotes from fal.ai's pricing:

ResolutionPer second5-second clip10-second clip
480p≈ $0.22≈ $1.10≈ $2.21
720p≈ $0.47≈ $2.37≈ $4.73
1080p≈ $1.16≈ $5.82≈ $11.64

It's one of the pricier models in the catalog; that's the cost of 30-second takes with sound. For drafts, block the shot on a cheaper model or on 480p first. Every model's rate is on the rate card, and what AI video actually costs per clip compares them all.

$49 once. Then pay only for what you generate: images from under a cent, 5-second video clips from about 25¢. No monthly fee, no credits that reset each month. Seedance 2.5 renders bill to your own Fal.ai key with no markup, and the exact figure is on the Generate button before you click.

The start frame behind the first example above, made on the Image tab with Nano Banana 2 for about 12¢. Hand it to Seedance 2.5 and the prompt only has to describe the motion: the wind, the waves, a slow push-in.

Inside DaVinci Resolve: in AssetLab Resolve, use Grab frame to pull the frame under the playhead in as the start frame, generate, and Auto-drop puts the finished clip in an "Asset Lab" bin and on your timeline. It works with Resolve Free and Studio, on Mac and Linux.

For multi-shot pieces: storyboard the scene first (about 12¢ a still) and use the approved stills as start frames, so you only pay Seedance rates for shots you've already signed off.

Seedance 2.0 vs Seedance 2.5

Both are in Asset Lab. Here's how they differ on the specifications in fal.ai's API, checked September 23, 2026. No claims about which "looks better," because that depends on the shot:
